Ask Carmen who they are, their response is "I am a Revolutionary of Compassion and Love. I make a positive disturbance in the places I have been given ." Carmen grew up Cartersville, GA. They graduated from Berry College with a degree in political science and secondary education. Carmen earned their master's degree in curriculum and instruction at Trinity Washington University.

Carmen's professional journey has been committed to uplifting children, families, and communities that have been strategically marginalized and disenfranchised. As an educator, Carmen taught history and served in school leadership as Director of School culture in three charter schools, (KIPP, Achievement Prep, and DC Scholars) located in southeast Washington, DC. Their work continued supporting children and families of Anacostia as the Secondary Programs Manager at Horton's Kids. Carmen served as Chief People Officer and Philanthropic Director at gc2b, a gender-affirming apparel company, creating an international program to provide life and truth affirming gramments at no cost to those facing financial insecurity or other social impediments Carmen is invigorated and inspired by the work of LILI of making learning a tangible experience for children.

Outside of leading field experiences, you can find Carmen hiking, in some type of art project, and always with a song from the 90's or a corny joke ready to share.
