Students thrive when adults show up with curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to explore alongside them. At Live It Learn It, volunteers help turn new experiences into moments of confidence, joy, and discovery. We invite the DC community to be part of that spark and to help students feel supported as they explore the world around them. We will work with you to find the right role so you can show up in a way that feels natural and meaningful.

From supporting students during field experiences to helping behind the scenes with planning, materials, and logistics, Live It Learn It volunteers play an essential role in creating meaningful learning opportunities for DC students.

We work with volunteers to find opportunities that match their interests, availability, and comfort level while keeping student safety and strong school partnerships at the center of everything we do.

All Live It Learn It volunteers must be 18 or older and complete required onboarding steps before volunteering in schools or field experiences.

Upon completion of the volunteer interest form, the LILI team will be in touch with the volunteer application and background check information.

How to Volunteer:

  1. Fill out our volunteer interest form to tell us about yourself and your availability.

  2. Join a volunteer interest call to learn more about volunteering with Live It Learn It and confirm fit.

  3. Complete DCPS Clearance if you’ll be working directly with students. This can take time—we’ll guide you through it.

  4. Attend a volunteer orientation before your first program or field experience.

  5. Explore the volunteer calendar and sign up for your first opportunity.
