The Bridge the Gap Fund helps DC public and charter school teachers bring bold ideas to life—through funding, logistics, and hands-on support. From museums to musicals, gardens to government buildings, these experiences spark curiosity, deepen learning, and connect DC classrooms to the world.

SHEPHERD ES AT U.S. BOTANICAL GARDENS
PreK4 students explored seed germination and plant survival during their “Sharing the Planet” unit.

SEATON ES AT DISCOVERY THEATRE
PreK4 students experienced a live performance celebrating winter traditions from around the world—connecting classroom learning to diverse cultural celebrations.

Eighth graders explored sustainable farming and food systems after reading The Omnivore’s Dilemma.

PreK students learned about animal coverings and the differences between mammals, birds, and reptiles—then met real farm animals during a special in-school visit.

Tenth graders learned about the history of HBCUs, and connected with college traditions to inspire future pathways.

DUNBAR HS IN PHILADELPHIA, PA
Students explored freedom of speech and the impact of incarceration through visits to the National Constitution Center and Eastern State Penitentiary.
